The cryptographic system supporting Bitcoin’s digital signatures, ECDSA (Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm), is set to be deprecated by the government after 2030. This has sparked renewed debate within the Bitcoin community about making the cryptocurrency resistant to quantum computing threats.
